The Brothers Karamazov - Two Volumes (Awarded To Hilary Mantel) Fyodor Dostoyevsky

This two volume copy was awarded to Hilary Mantel. Previously pub'd by J M Dent & Sons, first included in their 'Everyman's Library' in 1927 as two volumes, this reprint in 1967. Translated by Constance Garnett and introduced by Edward Garnett. Both DWs have faded spines, are rubbed, bumped/creased along edges, with some nicks and a few tears up to 10mm, noticeably on spine corners. Price not shown, but corners remain unclipped with explanation of the six price categories used by EL, one being the lowest and six the highest, this ed'n in yellow/brown is category 4. Both books have blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Covers are clean, spines and corners slightly bumped, fore edges very slightly dulled, top edges are pale mottled orange. Bindings tight and text blocks clean and bright throughout. Vol. one has award plate on ffep, from Harrytown High School, to Hilary Mantel for 'O' Level History (July 1968). Ffep of vol. two shows where the same type of plate has been removed. Text blocks are clean and bright throughout, the only detractions being in vol. two with an ink ref. on fep to pp189 and margin lines on pp 242 & 250. 185 x 120mm.
