The French Royal Historiographer wrote several works, beginning with Abrege. This history of Spain traces the origins of the country in Volume 1. In Volume 2 Ferdinand marries Isabella, the Jews are expelled from the country, Columbus discovers America (p. 97), Pizarro discovers Peru (p.171) and France and Spain battle in Italy, the Low Countries, wherever they could. The second half, the last 300 pages or so, deal with conflicts of the years between 1648 and 1658, This is a rare book. I did not find it in OCLC World Catalog, the BN; one copy in COPAC; not in Brunet (but Cioranescu 17th Century, 28251); via Libri recorded only a 1682 Edition. Bound in contemporary full leather, re-backed. Very Good, gilt ornate design on spines, gilt lettering on black spine label, marbled text block edges with dusty/discolored top text block edge, age toned pages, some handling/scuffing to leather boards, few dog-eared pages, some wear to board corners, discoloration to pastedowns and endpapers, few pages with faint moisture stains without impact to text, ink notations to title pages, short pencil note top front free endpaper both Volumes, ink and pencil markings to rear pastedown Volume 2, some rubbing and few small dents to board edges.Please note: Oversized books/sets MAY require additional postage then what is quoted for 2.2lb book.
