8vo. xiii, (iii), 348, (4) pp. Publisher's brown pebbled cloth, gilt lettered to the spine, black lettered and ruled to the upper cover, pencilled notes to the lower margin of one of the final leaves, pencilled date "July 4, 1879" to the verso of the front free endpaper. Minor tear to the front free endpaper at the gutter, now with a subtle tissue repair, a little light rubbing to the extremities, else very good. The first half of the work comprises a biography of the writer, followed by a just over a hundred pages of his poetry and a closing section of his "prose fragments". The first edition appeared c.1872-3 with illustrations by Birket Foster, this is a very early reprint without illustrations, issued in the Chandos Classics series.
