"This amusing map was designed by Corporal Edward Oauss in June of 1945, about a month after V-E Day was proclaimed across the European Theater of Operations. Bright red arrows show the route of the 750th Tank Battalion as it rolled across France and Germany. Rather than commemorating the vicious fighting, difficult conditions, and terrible atrocities of war, the image presents a rather lighthearted assessment of the approximately 9-month campaign. Humorous illustrations offer a first-person perspective on memorable locations, engagements, and Army stereotypes. Alcohol consumption, swearing, and other 'typical' behaviors are prominently featured. The 'Seven-Five-Zero', as the unit came to be called, participated in several prominent engagements across the ETO, including the Battle of the Bulge and the encirclement of the Ruhr Pocket. For much of the campaign, the battalion was attached to the 104th, 75th, and 99th Infantry Divisions, earning commendations with each. Shortly after publication, the 750th would be ordered to occupation duty in Berlin, among the first American units to do so. The map is rare on the market and listed in only one example in WorldCat, at Texas A&M University. OCLC# 1365771462. Source." Sheet Width (in) 21.5 Sheet Height (in) 13.5 Condition Description Intentionally trimmed edges give the look of a briefcase, though unfortunately the insignia in the upper corners and some of the outer image has been lost as a result. Scattered light wear visible on the right side, including one small damp stain. About good condition overall. Blank on verso.
