The issue is given over completely to two articles: "Does the Constitution Require Freemen to Hunt Fugitive Slaves?" and "The Southern Platform; or, Manual of Southern Sentiment on the Subject of Slavery" by Daniel Goodloe of North Carolina. Bailey edited an anti-slavery paper in Cincinnati in the 1830s and 1840s before moving to Washington in 1847 to edit the national Free Soil newspaper *The New Era* perhaps the most influential antislavery paper of the 1850s, which serialized *Uncle Tom's Cabin*. This paper, *Facts for the People* was issued as a supplement to *The New Era* was published monthly between 1853-1856 for a total of 24 issues. Scarce.
