A remarkably clean and bright copy. With clear mylar wrapper. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The 7th, also known as the "80th Regiment" was organized in December 1861 and was mustered out in August 1865. The regiment served in the Army of the Ohio and Army of the Cumberland; and was after December 1862, part of the famed Saber Brigade led by Irish-born, Robert Horatio George Minty. This brigade included, besides the 7th Pennsylvania Cavalry, Minty’s own 4th Michigan Cavalry, the 4th U.S. Cavalry, and the Chicago Board of Trade Battery. Their engagements included Battle of Perryville; Battle of Stones River; Tullahoma Campaign; Battle of Hoover's Gap; Battle of Chickamauga; the Atlanta Campaign; the Battle of Resaca and the Siege of Atlanta. They also participated in Kilpatrick s Raid when 4000 Union cavalry in total traveled south of Atlanta behind enemy lines to destroy the railroad at Lovejoy Station.
