The status of vocational education research in the sphere of healthcare jobs is documented in the anthology. Despite its increasing societal relevance because of demographic and social change, it has thus far been neglected in the discussion on vocational training. However, the exchange between science and educational practice is the basis for structured and forward-thinking further development of healthcare jobs. The authors describe themes and approaches, by means of examples, as stimuli for further research: Staffing requirements and acquiring staff, academisation, competence and elevation of competence, qualification of teaching staff.
