First edition, with three of the critical first issue points: "Him and Another Man" illustration erroneously listed at page 88; "Huck Decided" (rather than "Decides") on the Contents page under Chapter VI; and the "with the was" misprint on page 57. Page 283 is in the corrected third state, as it is in all cloth bound copes (the curved fly and the rarely found prank versions are only found in some leather bound copies, never cloth). Other variants appear at random, among first issue copies. In this copy, the second "5" is missing on page 155. On the plate featuring he bust of Twain: the cloth is visible below the bust, and the plate has the "Heliotype Printing Co." imprint. Hinges expertly reinforced, cloth cover expertly repaired at spine ends and corners. Former owner inscription to free endpaper, dated March 1, 1885. The first text page has some very faint color to the illustration (see picture); small chop to bottom edge of page 151/2, not affecting text. Very good, nicely restored copy of one of the great classics of American literature.
