Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait engraving of the author, 15 colour plates of flies, 9 b&w plates including photographs, text engravings. Red cloth, spine and upper board titled in gilt, ruled in black - without illustration or decoration, bevelled edges, yellow coated end-papers. Spine very faded, 2cm split to spine, some foxing but a good copy. The number and inclusion of the plates is rather haphazard. They are all tipped in, and seemingly they used whatever was to hand at the time. They generally include two series (A to J and I to VI), plus others which may be numbered randomly. Photographs and text engravings have been introduced. The 27-page supplement includes "Angling scenes and delights" by W. Murdoch, "Walton's trouting water" by W.H. Foster, and "Dry fly fishing" by C.W. Gedney. This copy includes a colour plate of "Samples of the renowned Beaufort Loch Flies" which is not found in all copies. .
