Binder or printer error regarding the list of illustrations: frontispiece engraved view of Oppenheim was listed as being on page 22. Dark blue cloth hardcover with gilt decorations and illustrations on the covers and spine. Gilt titles on the front cover and spine. All edges gilt. Cloth is edge worn on the corners, chipped base of spine, and split lower rear joint. The frontispiece and engraved half title page are loose. Light to moderate scattered foxing and toning to the contents. Text block partially shaken with cracks in the gutters. Previous owner inscription on the half title page. Fair only. No stated edition or volume indicated on the spine or in the title. However, "Vol. 2" is printed in small letters at the bottom of page 1. Publication date on the title page is 1858 preceding the 1860 edition.
