In "Analitical Historiography versus National History. 'Nation' as a Social representation", Lázló Vörös of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava, presents the results of his doctoral research. He investigates why in many countries still today the 'nation' is studied as an objective substantial entity rather than as a historically contingent social category. He tests und exemplifies his general thesis with case studies regarding the Magyar nationalist discourse on the Slovak population in Hungarian journals in the first decades of the 20thr century. The volume, published in Slovak with an English summary, is the thirteenth in a series based on dissertations completed by doctoral researchers who have partecipated in 'Cliohres.net', a network of Excellence for History supported by the European Commission through its Doctorate General for Research's Sixth Framework Programme.
