Acute stroke care has improved significantly during the last 10-20 years, starting with IV TPA to transfemoral carotid stenting, TCAR and large vessel thrombectomy. Large vessel thrombectomy is performed in more stroke cases within a few hours of stroke to salvage the brain tissue from the effect of acute ischemia. In the second edition of this book, chapters from the first edition have been revised and updated with contributions from new authors, and a number of new chapters for management of stroke have been added.
