This somewhat illegible map presents a simplified geologic overview of the southwestern states of Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. A patchy explanation in the upper left provides a brief summary, while a legend below shows the symbols used to identify gas fields, oil fields, and more. The image appears to reproduce an earlier map that had further elements added post-production, the result of which was then crudely photocopied. Such features include written updates to the text, the addition of a small newspaper article, and what appears to be an author's or owner's address in the lower left. Dating such a piece can be quite difficult, but the newspaper article references Texas oil production in 1935 and the paper appears mid-century. Creased along old fold lines and numerous black spots within the image as a result of the crude replication technology. Very good overall.
