Stories about bears and the people who hunted them in the Sauk County area of Wisconsin. Cole was the founder of The Baraboo Daily News and in his introduction states,"It is the purpose of these pages to present a partial picture of a period permanently passed. These little sketches are but cursory incidents of the days of the creaking lynch-pin wagon, the trilling of the spinning -wheel, and the swish of the grain-cradle-all long since silent." This copy in good condition with top edge a bit dusted, former owner's name inked to front free endpaper o/w internally clean. The uncommon jacket is lightly soiled with a small chip at tail of spine.
