This is the first printing of the first UK edition. Some bibliographies indicate the date, 1891, for the first printing, but that is for the supplemental volume which was indeed published in 1891, published ahead of the main text volume being sold here (supplemental volume not included here). The book has fraying to spine ends, usual darkening/fading to spine cloth, original coated EPs are cracked but holding well since underlying cloth mesh is strong, old name and address stamp on verso of FFEP and name/address penned to top of first blank page otherwise no owner writing or marks on pages, a little foxing on first blank page and last blank page otherwise no foxing on pages, solid binding, complete with all illustrations and maps (including large map in rear pocket).
