Handsome set of a First Edition Thus edition, complete in the nine volumes published jointly by Fondazione Lorenzo Valla and Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, of Milan, Italy, during various years. Hundreds of black-and-white illustrations including full-page maps and battle plans and full-color plates galore including of art works. From the personal library of the noted English historian of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, Professor Peter Morris Green, now of Iowa City, Iowa, 99 years old; he is nearly blind, but he is still working, in this case on a new translation and with annotations, of Herodotus, his favorite historian. Texts in Italian and Greek, with commentary and notes by various editors and translators. Bound simply in blue cloth over boards, with silver lettering and ruling to each spine. Double sewn-in linen ribbon bookmarks to several volumes. Six of the nine volumes have printed, illustrated, full-color paper dust jackets, each showing moderate edgewear and spine-sunning. Several of the volumes' spines are forward-cocked.
