Haining (1940-2007) received the British Fantasy Awards's Karl Edward Wagner prize in 2001. This ghoulish collection was inspired by the opening story, "Man Overboard" by Winston Churchill. The transatlantic line-up of authors also includes Agatha Christie, J. B. Priestley, Graham Greene, F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck, William Burroughs, and many more.
