Russell & Russell, New York. 1968. 158 pages. First edition, thus; first printing. 158 pages with index and map. This title was first published in 1924 by Johns Hopkins. This title was re-released in hardcover, 44 years later by Russell & Russell. This copy is the latter. Book is bright, tight and clean. Binding and hinges are sound. Book is about fine with one minor flaw: a touch of endpaper toning from old DJ flaps before the DJ was protected in acid-free protector. Included is the rare original publisher's distribution DJ that were usually discarded by the booksellers before placing on their shelves. A most attractive copy of the findings of the father of landscape architecture (Central Park, Prospect Park, Stanford University campus, etc.,) then commissioned by the New York Daily Times, now the New York Times, to provide a firsthand account of the Antebellum South during the American Civil War. Noted historian and academic, Broadus Mitchell dives into Olmsted and his findings. fine/fine
