First edition in print, in its original publication in two parts in Strand Magazine in December 1921 and January 1922. Churchill began painting during the First World War and remained a keen painter throughout his life. The essay was later published in Thoughts and Adventures (1932) and as a book in 1948. Provenance: the collection of Steve Forbes. Two volumes, octavo. Original pictorial wrappers. Housed together in custom made green cloth solander box. A little worn with some loss to spine lettering, discreet tape repair to wrappers and inner hinges, contents a little toned else clean. A very good set.
