Autograph letter signed, one page, 6 x 7,5 inch, Paris, January 1834, to "Mr. [Joseph ] Hume"* (note at food) - Marquis de Lafayette seeks a favor for a friend, written and signed in black ink "Lafayette", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a profile picture (printed etching) of Marquis de Lafayette in uniform (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with intersecting letter folds, browning, a little bittle, and slightly faded - in fine to good condition. Accompanied by additional pictures of Lafayette, and a portion of a leaf with Hume`s address and a seal, laid to card.In parts:"My dear SirAltho you are not a member of government, your public situation and personal character entitle you to a certain share of influence upon government men. I therefore hope that this letter of introduction may bear service to Mr. Church, the parents of whom were my most intimate and devoted friends. [.]" * Joseph Hume (1777-1855) was a Scottish surgeon and prominent Radical politician in Britain.
