Abinger Harvest---Variant 2Nd-Issue: "A Flood In The Office" Still Present On Pages 278-281 Forster, E. M. Added Recently,Arts & Letters,Literature

Printed in Great Britain [Date from the copyright page.] This seems to be a variant second-issue copy: "Reprinted March 1936" (the same month as the first) is stated on the copyright page. HOWEVER, the libelous article "A Flood in the Office" that was ostensibly removed in the second issue is still intact on pages 278-281. Prefatory Note, The Present, Books, The Past, The East, "The Abinger Pageant" with Foreword and notes; viii, 351 pages. The original dark-blue silk cloth is very good, with gilt lettering on the spine still bright and blue top-edge somewhat faded; some rubbing to the extremities and the gently-bumped spine ends. The interior shows a touch of toning but remains creamy-bright; however, there are light pencil lines in the margins, and a number of small page numbers which are interesting references when followed---along with more on the rear endpapers. These are probably from Paxton Blair whose name / address / date are stamped on the front pastedown with a small news-clipping photo of the author tipped-in. The original pictorial dustjacket is still here, unclipped (12/6 net), but with several chips at the edges, and a sunned spine.
