Rivers And Mountains John Ashbery

Hardback copy of the scarce true, 1966 first edition, published by Holt. Very good in a fair DJ. The book is clean and tight - however it is marred by a large, green signature (not the author's) on the inside front which has bled onto the inner jacket flap. A more humble prior owner's name (possibly the poet Robert Grenier) is neat in ink and two cryptic pencil notes are on inside pages (stating "clues" to "Bob" of some sort or puzzle.) Jacket has two 1"x1" chips at the spine and is worn on the top edge - protected by mylar (a bit late, that!). Scarce early Ashbery in a copy that has certainly been around - priced to reflect this.
