A warrant (relating to the payment of Queen's messengers) signed by Hatton. It is composed in Tudor English and reads: 'Theis shalbe to will and require you for the Quenes mats [majesties]service to content and paye unto John Unett one of her mats messengers for ridinge to the Earle off Shrewsburie and the Earle of Kent with two sev'all [severall] commissions of liutenancie the some of forty shillings. And theis pnts [presents] shalbe yor warrant and dischardge for the same. This xxiijth of Januarie 1587. Chr: Hatton, Cancr. To the Clerk of the Hanap or his deputies.' An accompanying typed transcript (early 20th C?) is included. In excellent condition with no restoration A signed court document from around the time of the Francis Drake's voyages and the execution of Mary Queen of Scots, signed by a noted favourite of Queen Elizabeth I.
