Lovely overall copy of this uncommon first American edition of this text by Thomas Mann which details one of his most beloved works Dr. Faustus. Comes from the home of a tobacco smoker, with commensurate toning along the DJ spine and to the very edges of the the DJ and some parts of the back panel. Otherwise DJ very clean, with a thin vertical scuff along the spine, a small chip on the front panel, and some rubbing at the edges of the DJ head and foot, now in brodart. Binding is tight, solid, sturdy. Boards clean and firm. Interior is clean, bright, free of marks. Largely imperceptible but possibly noticeable tobacco odor, not likely to bother except for the more sensitive nose.
