An uncommon Aramco publication adapted from a presentation at the First Arab Petroleum Congress, comprising a call to action in the face of the lack of standardized technical terms in Arabic across the industry: "No person or group in the oil industry [.] has yet been able to devote any comparable effort to standardizing the rules for the choice of technical vocabulary and to selecting and publishing lists of Arabic equivalents for the technical terms of the industry" (fol. 20). - This vocabulary would be a great assistance to Aramco, as one of the largest oil companies, with equally great need for clear communication among its numerous employees and industry partners. Aramco also needed to decide which Arabic words to teach foreign, non-Arabic speaking workers who were arriving in increasing numbers in Saudi oil fields and refineries. The spokesperson, Peter Speers, concludes: "If such an organized and cooperative effort were to be undertaken, the Arabian American Oil Company would be not only willing but eager to provide any information or suggestions requested of it and to offer any other assistance within its power" (fol. 22) - Fewer than ten copies listed in institutions worldwide, eight of which are in the United States and one at the University of Exeter in the UK. - A few short paper flaws from stapling to the first two leaves, otherwise in very good condition. - Cf.
