[Women in Military] [WWII] Original Vintage Recruitment poster for the WAAC or the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. Vibrant green poster with a woman iin uniform on the front with the text: "Attention Women!" at the top. Measures 25" x 37". Poster also features the tagline on the bottom: "Join the WAAC Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. US Army" and an additional tagline at the bottom: "Apply at any US Army Recruiting and Induction Station." The WAAC was the women's branch of the United States Army. It was created as an auxiliary unit, the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) on 15 May 1942, and converted to an active duty status in the Army of the United States as the WAC on 1 July 1943. The United States Army was the first of America's military branches to enlist women in World War II. The mission of the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) was to provide support to the Army by releasing men from administrative duties to serve in combat. According to previous owner, This is an original poster from the estate of Ruth Von Euw, originally from the personal collection of her father, Stephen Von Euw, who had been the editor of the Rockville (CT) Journal from the 1930s until his death in 1955. During World War II, Von Euw had made sure that every local serviceman and servicewomen received free copies of the newspaper wherever they were posted. Poster has been rolled over time and there are roll and fold markings. There are very minor stains, chips at the edges, and one large rip right before the T in "The poster has tape on the vers from the middle to the bottom. from a large old tear and is priced accordingly.
