Recently re-bound in navy half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and matching cloth over boards. With the original orange cloth spine and upper bound in at rear. Edges quite heavily toned, with some occasional spotting, otherwise a clean copy in an attractive new leather binding. A novel set during the Peninsula War in Portugal, 1810, in which a British Green-Jacket trapped behind enemy lines carries on a guerilla campaign against the French occupying forces. The novel is also a key source-book for Bernard Cornwell's 'Sharpe' series, which includes a deliberate reference to Rileman Dodd, the main character, in 'Sharpe's Escape' (2004).
