Uncommon first printing of the authors first novel. Slight lean to the binding, and very slightly shaken from spine strip at the top, but still quite sturdy and solid. Teeny split to the cloth at the crown of the spine and some minor fraying to the foot. Some occasional rubbing and dustsoiling to boards but pretty clean, especially for age. Oddly all four corners of boards, front and back, have gone a bit "soft" although there is no clear evidence of foul play or water exposure of any kind, and perhaps has to do with the make of these particular boards. Interior is clean, though pages are slightly and evenly age toned. Some glue acidification leading to toning on the front and rear pastedowns. From the home of a tobacco smoker, so there may be a faint odor present to sensitive noses, although not egregious and certainly not overpowering the typical scent of an old book. Now in mylar.
