Tyler wrote a detailed narrative of this very interesting and memorable march from Council Bluffs, Iowa to San Diego, California by the only religious based unit ever of the United States military. While the 1900+ mile trek endured plenty of hardship, the only "warfare" was the infamous "Battle of the Bulls", a fight against a herd of wild cattle near the San Pedro river in present day Arizona.
