Small folio (13"x 9"), illustration, in color, No 262, Description page included. Normal aging and browning, top margin trimmed a bit, but not affecting image or text.; otherwise very good. Vanity Fair was founded by Thomas Gibson Bowles (AKA Jehu Junior) in 1868. The first issue appeared in 1869, and this magazine would continue through 1913. Bowles wrote much of the humorous and racy commentary in the early years. Despite presenting humorous caricatures of people, along with gossip about them, most people seemed to be flattered to be selected to be in Vanity Fair. This illustration is of Albert Edward, later to become Edward The VII (1841-1910). Edward was Queen Victoria's son and would become king in 1901 upon her death. The illustration shows a confident and robust Edward. DNB.
