Bound in contemporary full leather binding with five raised bands to the spine. The title panels on the spine have been lost. The spine has light chipping at the top and bottom and a little edge cracking next to the front panel. The corners are bumped with some rubbing and there is a little surface wear to the front and rear panels. Name of a previous owner in ink to the front pastedown - Lady Wale of Shelford near Cambridge - with another family name and a number at the top corners and a large number scrawled to the centre. Browning to the endpapers with some scribbles in ink to the edges of the rear endpapers. There is some browning to the title page which is printed in red and black but the pages are otherwise generally unmarked. First printing.
