An undated, deluxe ten-volume set presenting the major works of Washington Irving (1783-1859). Includes his notable "History of New York," "Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Esq.," "Life of George Washington" (in four volumes), "The Alhambra," and other major works. Though undated, possibly published c.1890s-1910s in publisher's "The Sidney Library Edition." Each volume with a captioned, tissue-guarded frontis plate, and two to three additional plates bearing black & white photos of scenes described in the book. --- In reddish-brown half leather binding, on green cloth-covered boards with Irving crest in gilt to front panels. Spines with gilt decorations & titling, TEG (top edges gilt). --- With chipping & chafing to leather at spine ends and infrequently to cover tips, as well as a crack along front joint of volume VII, otherwise a tightly-bound, well-preserved set of the works of this much-admired early American satirist and observer of the world around him.
