An Original Handwritten Letter from the Crimean War in the Hand and Signed by Irish Colonel Thomas Henry Pakenham to General Sir James Yorke Scarlett. Dated 1855. A letter discussing an increase of horses left as a detachment at Headquarters. Colonel Packenham 1826-1913 was an Irish Conservative politician and British Army officer. He fought in the Crimean War in 1854 and in the Fenian raids in 1866. He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Antrim in 1854, succeeding his brother Edward Pakenham, who was killed at the Battle of Inkerman. Condition is good. Folding crease.
