Large ocatvo in blue linen cloth lettered in silver. Unpaginated (aprox. 75 pp.) with a foreword by Lincoln Colcord. Nichols chronicles of his years as captain of the ships "Clara" and the "Frank Pendleton" between 1878 and 1891. It was his hobby to compose, set up, and print on his own onboard press the small newspapers which are reproduced in this volume. He printed one issue of the newspaper each voyage and sent copies to his friends, claiming it saved him from writing letters. The "Clara' was wrecked of Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1881, taking his first printing press with it.
