The main volume is one of 350 copies printed, but the separate illustration volume is one of only 25 copies. Original diaper grain green cloth with blind stamping to boards; gilt lettering ot the spine of the main 'Wace's Chronicle of the Norman Conquest' volume and to the front board of the 'Illustrations of Master Wace' volume. Housed in a custom made marbled slipcase. Translated with notes and illustrations by Edgar Taylor. With in text illustrations from the Bayeux tapestry and other contemporary sources throughout the main text volume, alongside a map of Normandy to the prelims. Paired with a separately bound volume of hand-coloured plates. Spines rubbed and faded with some markings and edge-wear to the boards. Pasted-in descriptions and John Porter's ownership labels to both volumes. Inscriptions to the endpapers and foxing throughout. 8vo.
